Toltrazuril Dosage Guidelines for Various Animals

TOLTRAZURIL COCCIDIOCDE DOSING INSTRUCTIONS

Toltrazuril controls coccidiosis caused by Isospora suis infection of young piglets. Isospora suis is a major cause of diarrhea, dehydration, loss of appetite, poor growth, and occasional mortality in piglets between birth and 3-4 weeks of age. Toltrazuril is effective in one dose because it attacks all stages of the parasite in the animal.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE This product must not be used on piglets later than 8 days of age. Thoroughly shake the container before use. Ensure the applicator is delivering a full dose before starting treatment. The applicator should be set to deliver 1 ml. dose per full stroke. Give 1 ml. of Toltrazuril per piglet by mouth. Use once when the piglets are 3-6 days old or as soon as coccidial diarrhea occurs. Treat all piglets in infected litters and all infected and ‘at risk’ litters in the farrowing house.

WITHHOLDING PERIOD: MEAT – DO NOT USE less than 70 days before slaughter for human consumption.

NOTE: The withholding period stated on the label applies only to meat destined for the Australian domestic market. Some export markets apply different standards which may require an export slaughter interval. If necessary, details of overseas standards should be obtained prior to use of this product. General Instructions Before using this product obtain a veterinary diagnosis for diarrhea in neonatal piglets. Clinical coccidiosis of piglets appears in piglets from 5 to 30 days of age. Control of the disease is most effective when Toltrazuril is given as a preventative before intestinal damage occurs and diarrhea begins. Therefore, it is important to establish the correct cause of scouring in neonatal piglets then treat all new litters at 3-6 days of age to control the disease.
